39 Weeks and Holding Strong!!

So we have made it to 39 weeks - we need to make it through today!

• Girl Scout Meeting and I am in charge (new girls in troop total 14 kindergarten and 1st graders today - augh!)
  
• Pick up Grandma Annie at airport - yeah - we can't wait!
  
• Work will be crazy for Morgan today - not enough staff!
  
• Not packed for hospital anyways
  

So we will keep praying for tomorrow or anytime after that!

Are we ready? Well - NO but are you ever ready to add a little boy to two rowdy girls!!
So we are somewhat ready

• Have a carseat and know how to install it
• Have a crib and bedding (thanks - Grandma Laura)
• Painted over the pink in the baby's room - it is blue and green now (thanks Morgan)
• Have clothes that are not pink (thank you friends and family)
• Clean house - will continue cleaning today
• Lots of cute burp cloths! :)
• Food in the fridge - well at least some food!
  
• Laundry almost done (is it ever done!)
  

So are we ready - sure as ready as we were when we had the girls!

Here is the last pregnancy picture (sorry, not the best shot - timer self taken) and we will keep you posted when he arrives - this boy will not be overdue!

P.S. A note on the short haircut: It has been about two weeks since I got my haircut.

What kind of hairstylist (not a good one) over-trims a pregnant lady's hair and then says "sometimes when you are pregnant your hair looks funny" - I know what she meant but she did cut it crooked and way more than the requested "trim". Oh well!

Manhattan said the other day, "Mom your hair has grown so much you can hardly tell you had a bad haircut", I guess I should keep some comments to myself.

OH - THE BABY'S NAME: NOPE STILL HAVE NOT DECIDED!

Surprise!

Sorry - no baby but . . . .

Last night I went to YW and was totally surprised with a baby shower for M5! It was the idea of my Young Women and then their moms and other leaders helped out! When I get the pictures from friends I will post them! It was a lot of fun and quite the surprise!

A lot of my friends from the ward were there with gifts for our little boy! It was so nice of everyone! The food was yummy and creative! I loved the duckies floating in the punch and the fruit baby carriage (I have pics of both) - my creative friends!!

Some of the funniest gifts were the pee-pee tepee (I will post a picture and the poem) - don't worry! And the diaper changing kit for Morgan - it is a tool belt with diapers, wipes, gloves, goggles, tongs, and an adorable poem! I have some super creative friends!

So until later - thanks to all my Young Women and my friends in the ward! I was very surprised and I had a great time! As soon as I get the pictures from them I will pull together a good post!

Do you know how you sound?

So I have been thinking today about all the weird things people say to pregnant women - I have gotten a few good ones recently but today I heard the best. Don't get me wrong - I am good with my belly and my weight etc! I am worn out but I enjoy being pregnant for the most part! I had to share these comments: I know you have all been there with me on this one!!

So here are a few of my favorite (or not favorite) things I have heard.

1. I could tell you were pregnant in your pictures on the blog (before we told anyone -4 months).
2. Are you pregnant? You were looking a little thick around the middle (at about 4 months).
3. You are looking really full (7.5 months).
4. Are you pregnant again? (last week - a man I hardly know but I guess he knows Marin & I).
5. Are you pregnant again? ("a friend" said this one on the first day of school - just met her last year so I have not known her for any of my pregnancies. So yes, after 2 years I am pregnant again?
6. You haven't had that baby yet? (nope - another 29 days to go?)

I have to comment here that there are many nice people who say sweet things like - "you look so good, you can't be due in a month, etc" Thank you to all of you!

So my favorite one - this was said to me as I was leaving Hattie's school - - - - -

7. When are you dropping that load?

WHAT??

I was actually speechless (for a minute) and then I stumbled out something about the end of the month. I was shocked! I couldn't believe it and maybe it doesn't sound as weird as it was. She is a nice lady who I see daily as we drop off our kids. It was SSSSOOOO weird!!

So word to the wise: Women only say positive things to each other - you know better even if you have never been pregnant - there are days when you feel a little heavier than others. Men -only compliment, compliment, compliment and if you are not sure what to say - just smile and say something about her hair!!

Off to eat lunch and take a nap - thank heavens for Marin's naptimes - we have been enjoying the simple pleasure of naps together!

Our Summer Family Picture, 8 Months Along

Yes - it is the last day of summer in our world and we are just now taking the "summer" picture for our bathroom collage! We have tried before but we always look a little crazy!

While we were doing all the pictures this morning we took an eight month picture - so here is it 8 months or 35 weeks and holding strong! I am hoping the baby doesn't come early but we have back-up plans since one is never in charge when it comes to babies or children for that matter!

I am so excited!

Ok - so for weeks I have had on my to-do list to sew a maternity skirt. I was so intimidated to make the skirt that I never did it. If you know me you know that not crossing it off my list was bugging me BIG time!! Going to the fabric store was challenging enough with the girls but then I could never pick out the fabric, the right amount, etc.

TODAY I did it! I woke up and decided I would do it and if it was a mess than I would know it was not worth it. Ran by the grocery store bought two apples to keep the girls happy in the shopping cart (works every time with my girls). With both girls in the cart and no room for fabric I set out to my neighborhood Joann Fabrics!!

With help by the Joann's lady - who sees me there often and helps me out a lot! I left with $16.00 worth of materials and went home! In the end I bought way too much but I was not sure how this would all pull together!

After washing etc and two hours of sewing - it would have been faster but I pretty much made the pattern and cut it originally WAY to big! This is it! It fits too! I know the white band is a little weird but one of the only church shirts I have is white and I hate seeing the fabric through the shirt!

I am really excited that it worked out and needed to share!! Thanks for indulging me!!! If I get a chance while I am at my mom's this week I am making another - I want to run out now and get more fabric and try again!

P.S. Hattie is wanting me now to work on hers - which is easy - so hopefully it will be done in the next hour!! :)

Follow Up: I wore the skirt today and liked not having to fight with a zipper/bella band combination. I could have made it a little bit smaller and tighter around the belly but I am sure it will be great next month. I like that I made the belly band thick and white because I folded it over and you could not see the band like some maternity skirts dark bands. I was going to wear my white shirt but it is still so big on me that I hate to wear it with a flouncy skirt. I dug through my closet and found a pre-pregnancy pink shirt that matched and still fit so that was a success in itself!! I am ready to tackle another skirt.

Oh Manhattan's skirt was a bust - I should not have tried to make it with Marin's help - I cut it wrong and got frustrated. In the end - it was sacked! We will get more material at my mom's - and will whip one out with more sucess I am sure!

Pregnancy Notes

Thanks to everyone for the notes of congratulations! We are very excited!

To answer some comments -

No, we don't care if it is a boy or a girl. A boy would be nice for variety but a girl would be easier - we have all the stuff. I am dying to know - no I never wait to find out. I always tell people I am just as surprised on the ultrasound table. Sometimes I think I would like the surprise when he/she is born but I have little self-control (ask my friends Karen, Kristin, and Jessica who had ice cream for dinner with me last night - thanks Kristin!)

The deal was this - it took almost a year to get pregnant with Hattie, 2.5 with Marin (with help!), and so we thought we should get going - and wow! Baby #3 was in a hurry to join us. I have a feeling the Lord knew it was now or never!! I am thankful it will be a fall baby - next summer would have worked too - but I will NOT complain! We are so very thankful!

To all my friends that have said they had "no idea", I "look so great for being almost 20 weeks" - you are the friends I need! I don't need anyone to tell me that they were "wondering when I saw you last week" or "I saw a recent picture and I thought maybe?" Come on girls - I only need the "your face is so thin. your legs are so long, and you look so great I can't believe you are pregnant". Come on my friends, help me out!

I am totally kidding - I think I feel like I am getting bigger and then Hattie asks - "when is your belly going to get bigger" mind you this was a day after I was wearing scrubs and she said "yeah! - You are getting a big belly". She doesn't remember when I was pregnant with Marin like I thought she would - she was surprised to see the pictures and how big my belly would get!
She can be so good and bad for my self-esteem!

We are talking about moving - to the basement to make room for this baby! Actually we are so grateful that babies come small and need only a crib to sleep! I think this little one will be setting up in our bedroom for a while until we can move Marin and Hattie together - may not be until winter but that is fine! So we are staying in our winderful house and being very happy for it!

Roll those M names to me - or you can wait until after we find out if it is a boy or girl! We had a hard time with coming up with Marin so I am thinking this won't be any easier! I am counting on you - Hattie wants to call the baby Mapoopalis (sound it out!) - yeah! Where did she get that one!! She is pretty funny sometimes!
