We did it - we left our little house on Crestwood! It has been so exciting and so sad at the same time. We had not even thought about moving until after Christmas and now we are gone! We bought this house from a friend who lived there her whole life - we were so excited to be the new Crestwood family. When we moved into the house, it was just the two of us. We didn't have much furniture, clothes, or even stuff! We moved it all in our CRV - making trips across town a little at a time!
Now almost 13 years later - we have three kids, lots of furniture, clothes, toys, a playground,
We were overwhelmed by our friends that came to help fill the uhaul and then unload it on Friday! Even more overwhelmed by the friends that stayed to make the second trip to get our playground, stayed to set up & make the beds, CLEAN and set up my kitchen, brought cookies, came over with pizza & helped clean bathrooms, & set up the playground and THEN friends that watched our kids the next morning so we could clean our Crestwood home and then another friend who brought us dinner that night!
As many times as I have heard moving is horrific - we have been overwhelmed by those that wanted to help! Again, we saw the power of our Heavenly Father as he directed our friends to be there for us! So many people took time away from their families to help us, so many families came all together! I think our neighbors were terrified by the amount of cars and the 20 kids running through the backyard - it was again how amazing and wonderful that they all played well together for a long time while their moms helped me in the house!
This is our sixth night here - we have stuff mostly figured out! There is still lots of unpacking to be done but we are slowly getting there! It has not been perfect - we had no natural gas (or hot water or heat) the first two days. Thankfully though it was restored in time for Easter Sunday! Manhattan has been really struggling with her allergies (the previous owners had pets - but the house was very clean). Slowly, we have been removing all the curtains, blinds, and anything that may help her! Today we were able to rip out the carpet on the both sets of stairs, the upstairs hallway, wash the walls throughout most of the house, clean the ceiling fans, and steam clean the basement carpet - thankfully we had a wonderful friend who watched Maxwell and the girls were back in school! Like I have said before - I have seen so many things to be thankful for - we will ride this one out too!

Melissa, this is SO exciting! I love your new house--can't wait to see more pics! And I'm so happy for you that you have such wonderful friends--they sound amazing! And of course its because you guys are always there to help those around you as well. This is such a huge thing, I'm glad it all happened so fast--nothing worse than drawing out a move--rip off the band-aid! I love your Easter picture out front, you all look fab, as usual. (Cute skirt and boots!) Can't wait to see more photos--you are so good to blog during all the craziness. That takes some serious discipline! :)
