Who are those rock heads?

Crazy Horse & Mt. Rushmore
Visiting Mt. Rushmore with our friends the Petersens

We left Casper, WY as soon as we could (scary hotel for sure!) and made our way to Rapid City.  We stopped along the way and noticed TONS of motorcyclist - Sturgis time!  It was pretty funny to see them everyone - with and without helmets (come on guys - wear a helmet!).  We stopped to see the Crazy Horse Monument but did not go in.  So much to see and not enough time!!

We made it to Rapid City around noon and were so excited to see our friends the Petersens!  We met them here in Toledo when Aaron was in medical school.  Carolyn and I were both pregnant with our oldest (Alex is a week and a half older than Hattie)!  They are terrific - the kind of friends that you always look forward to seeing and it is so easy to visit (at least we think so!)  We always love seeing Alex and Hattie together - crazy that they were babies not that long ago!  After we fed everyone we decided to head to Mt. Rushmore - we were so excited and bless the Petersens I bet they have been here at least 50 times but they were great tour guides.  It was especially nice because the kids could run and play a little.  I love the pictures we got there - it really was a beautiful day!

It was so nice to have a nice evening with the kids playing (ninja spies - can you see Manhattan being a ninja spy in that shirt?).  We were already sad that we were only going to be there the next day - Rapid City is a beautiful place to visit!
