Wall, South Dakota & the Badlands!

Wall Drug, South Dakota
We headed out of Rapid City early on Tuesday morning knowing we had another long day of driving and we still had lots to see!  We had been seeing the Wall Drug signs occasionally but after RC they became like rapid fire - seemed like every time we looked there was two or three signs advertising Wall.  The kids were totally excited for the visit and it did not disappoint.  There was the crazy stores, the funky stone statues, the amazing dinosaur that Maxwell bought, and the huge Jurassic Park dinosaur that terrified him!  The girls were kind of scared too but it was too cool to not watch!  We finished our fast visit with some delicious donuts that we had seen advertised along the way!
Badlands, South Dakota
Not too far from Wall Drug was the entrance to the Badlands.  The Theodore Roosevelt National Park we saw at the beginning of our trip is considered the north side of the Badlands.  There was lush and green and this was more bare.  We finally caught a great glimpse at some big horned sheep - everywhere we went on this trip bragged about big horn sheep but we never saw them - finally we saw some here and I was the most excited!  I do love our picture at the sign for the Badlands - I love that they have those signs at the entrance and exits of the National Park - perfect photo ops.  We also saw prairie dogs but they did not seem as lively as the ones we saw in North Dakota.  Maxwell is still hooked on his binoculars - he is always searching for them and then uses them backwards - oh well!  He is happy with them!
