Happy Birthday Maxwell!

This year it was one long party for Maxwell - we spread his birthday joy over three days!

Friday, September 18

Remember the Star Wars party - we had a fabulous birthday party with our friends here in Toledo!  So thankful for the bouncy house that fit our group and only gave us minor stink eye for bringing in the fabulous homemade cupcakes!!  Maxwell had a great time with his friends and got some awesome "5 year old boy" gifts - a Star Wars lego set from Grandma and Grandpa Smith (the only gift he actually ask for), a R2D2 hat (perfect for his Halloween costume - do you know how hard it is to find an R2D2 costume?), a nerf bow and arrow set (awesome - for the whole family) and a pair of light up Batman shoes (super exciting since Mom never buys those kinds of shoes).  He had a great time!  They bounced forever and then munched on the yummy OREO cupcakes!  He slept well that night - with his R2D2 hat on :)  I snuck in to get this picture for Aunt Lindsey and the Empie clan.

Monday, September 22

After our family field trip to Erie Orchard, we went to dinner for our traditional birthday dinner at Red Robin!  None of our kids ever let us miss this tradition!!  They all love getting to get their free ice cream and be sung to by the Red Robin crew!  After dinner he opened the gifts from us - more legos, pool stuff, and a whale toy to go with his pirate ship.  He loves this silly whale!







Tuesday, September 23rd
Then finally his "REAL" birthday arrived with a birthday breakfast of french toast and sausage - yummy!  I got to go with him to preschool for his "special day"!  Then it was dinner and brownies (his birthday treat of choice!).  It was a great line up of birthday celebration.

We love this little guy - he is very active and quite a handful sometimes!  He loves to play with his legos, to shoot his bow and arrow, to color and draw, and is working hard to memorize the 13 Articles of Faith (he is on #10).  He is quite a comedian most of the day and he takes great joy in chasing and torturing his sisters around our house! We can't send them up to bed without squeals of Maxwell chasing them - nothing is simple or calm for him!  We do adore his craziness!!
