Girls Weekend Away!

We ran and away and we did play - ok, so maybe we biked and biked!!

My friend Lindsey and I went to Chicago for a "Girls Weekend Away".  I was so nervous about leaving my crazy family - not really worried about the kids but more worried that my sweet husband would be exhausted from his weekend home!

Lindsey and I headed out on Friday morning stopping at the outlets for some family picture shopping - I love getting our pictures taken but I hate trying to figure out what we should wear!

Anyways - after some shopping we headed to Chicago.  The last 5 miles took us almost an hour - so exhausting!!  Once we parked our car, I was never willing to get back in it all weekend!  We spent the evening down at Navy Pier doing a scavenger hunt and enjoying the scenery!

We stayed at a great hotel - The Congress Plaza which was also the most haunted hotel in Chicago.  We were so excited that we had two queen beds and a big room!  It was so fun to jump on our beds without fighting our kids!

This is a picture that Lindsey took from this fabulous fountain with our hotel behind it!

We traveled down to the main trail along the lake and it was amazing!  There were tons of people all out on fun runs and charity walks - it was a little crazy but still fun.  We left from our hotel and went south and then back up north.  While we were heading south, Lindsey spotted this awesome turtle sandbox on the lake - it was so cool!  We stopped along the way to check out Sprinkles cupcakes - the funniest cupcake shop!  They have the most yummy cupcakes, fun shirts, and they have the most awesome cupcake ATM machine.  After the yummy cupcakes we headed north and visited some great parks of town.  When we finally got back on the trail we were really hungry and pretty tired.  We biked back to the Navy Pier and were completely whipped.  In the end, we biked about 50 miles that day!

The next morning we woke up and biked north and visited some shopping on Michigan Street - including The American Girl Store, Hershey Store, Macy's etc!  So fun!  After some shopping and bemoaning about going back to our real lives, we headed home!
