Bridging to Brownies

Last night we had our "Bridging to Brownies" ceremony! As you can see we had an Aloha theme and the girls loved it! They got really into it - dressing up etc! My friend Lindsey made these amazing cupcakes - the pictures do not do them justice! They were lemon and white with a light green frosting. Each one had a seashell - not sure what they were made of - fondant or gum paste I think. Either way they were so yummy and a huge hit!! We smashed up graham crackers for a sandy display! We had tons of decorations because some one of the other leaders had a Hawaiian birthday recently so that made it fun!

We did a little skit - "How To Bake A Brownie". My wonderful husband and I made an oven out of the box Hattie retrieved from the dumpster - she picture below! The girls loved this - they got to climb through the oven when we said "Look A New Batch of Brownies". I am not great at acting and we had not practiced much but it was cute and the girls LOVED it! Here is the text from it - cheesy but fun!

Nicki: I am hungry - Let's bake something.
Melissa: What do you want to make?
Nicki: I know, let's make some new Brownies !
Melissa: let's look in our new handbook for the recipe. (all pull out handbooks.)
Nicki: Here it is! To make Brownies, we must mix 4 basic ingredients - Promise, Law, 5 Worlds of Interest, and Brownie B's.
Melissa: In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of each of a promise to serve God, my country and mankind. To this mixture add 2 cups of honesty and 4 tablespoons of cheerfulness. Mix together until well blended.
Nicki: Stir in 1 cup of thoughtfulness. Beat together 1/2 c of fairness and 1/2 c of helpfulness and add to the mixture. Sprinkle over the mixture 2 tablespoons full of sisterhood of Girl Scouting and mix well.

Melissa: Add 1 c of respect for authority and 1 c of respect for myself and others. Stir until well blended. Sift together 1/2 c of wise use of resources and 6 Tlbs of a promise to protect and improve the world. Stir into mixture.
Nicki: Blend together 1/2 c of each of the following worlds: Well-Being, People, Out-Of-Doors, Arts, Today and Tomorrow. Into the worlds mixture add the Brownie B's: 4 tsp discoverer, 4 tsp ready helper, 4 tsp friend maker. and add to the mixture.
Melissa: Spread batter into the pan and bake at a moderate temperature until done.
Nicki: (after timer rings) They're done!

(open door and new Brownies start to crawl out of the oven.)

Look!! A NEW BATCH OF BROWNIES!!!

You can see that Marin made herself a part of the evening - popping up in all sorts of places! The girls finished the evening by crossing the "bridge" to Brownie Scouts then in the end we had some Brownie Scouts model their uniforms so the girls knew what to look forward to next year!

Morgan came straight from work and managed Maxwell - who cried through the whole thing and took some pictures - thanks honey! So we made it through another year - next week I am going to Brownie Scout training - no rest for the weary!!
