After winding into Chicago and paying a crazy amount for parking, we made it to the American Girl Store first thing on Saturday morning! It was so fun - Manhattan was so excited! You know how nothing is as fun as watching pure joy and excitement in your child - totally that way! Just watching her was so worth the drive and sleepless night with Maxwell!
The store was huge - the whole front of the store was filled with Historic Dolls and then there was more upstairs!! Manhattan had decided in Rebecca because she looks the most like her. Hattie had saved over half the money and we paid the rest as her birthday gift - she was so excited to have her birthday early! We wandered around the store for a few minutes when we decided it was time to just buy her doll so she could have it! She was so excited to get it all open and see her! Grandma Annie bought her a doll carrier so she could carry her doll all over! Great idea! We wandered upstairs and saw more fun stuff! We loved the bathroom - so fancy (all pink and purple) and it even had a doll holder on the wall - so funny! The doll hair salon was pretty fancy too - just in case your doll needs a makeover - kind of funny! They even have a doll hospital where you can even get a new head for an old doll!
Marin liked the store but mostly for pushing her stroller around and into everything! Dad, Grandma, and I spent the whole time keeping her close and avoiding all the girls - not a lot of little boys there - Maxwell was outnumbered for sure!
After the American Girl Store - we went across the street to the Hershey Store! Morgan tried to convince Hattie to let him put her Rebecca in the car but no way! There were girls everywhere with these dolls - in strollers, backpacks, and carriers - it was funny! We had never seen anything like it!

You may laugh at the hospital, but we needed it once when our dog, Scout, chewed the hand of one of Lydia's dolls. We love our AMERICAN GIRL dolls, they are always on the girls lists...
It's quite an experience! I couldn't get over how much they had available for each doll to make it feel "at home". It seems a lot of girls are carrying around their new American Girl doll. Good business for Chicago! We went to the Hershey's store afterwards too. Glad she is having a great early birthday!

I am so jealous. I love dolls and it looks like this was the best store ever. I am so happy that Grandma Annie got to go with you. I can't wait to see your doll at Christmas.
